What Is The Scope Of DNB Post Diploma In Physical Medicine And Rehabilitation?
DNB Post Diploma in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is a PG program for doctors in India that they complete after completing their pg medical diploma.
The duration of this postgraduate program is 2 years. It concentrates on the prevention, diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment of disorders, particularly those of the neuro-musculo-skeletal, cardiovascular, and, at any age, pulmonary systems, acquired or congenital, that may produce temporary or permanent activity limitation, disability, or participation restriction in society including loss of quality of life.
The full-time course is pursued at recognized accredited institutions/hospitals nationwide. Admission to this course is made via the DNB-PDCET ranking exam conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), followed by counseling based on the marks of the exam that is conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences for allotment of Post Diploma DNB seat.
Course Highlights
The fee for following DNB-PD in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is Rs.1,25,000 annually.
After completing their respective course, doctors can join the job market or pursue higher degree programs like master’s degrees and research degree programs recognized by NBEMS or NMC, where DNB Post Diploma in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is a feeder qualification. Aspirants can take decent jobs in government positions such as Registrar, Demonstrator, Senior Resident, Tutor, etc.
While in the Private sector, the options include Resident Doctor, Consultant, Junior Consultant, Visiting Consultant (Physiatrist), Senior Consultant (Physiatrist), etc., with an approximate salary range of Rs. 5,00,000 to Rs. 32,00,000 per annum.
Eligibility Criteria
Aspirants who have passed the final examination leading to the award of Post Graduate Diploma from Indian Universities, which are duly recognized as per provisions of the NMC Act 2019 and the repealed Indian Medical Council Act 1956, can apply for the DNB-PDCET 2023 in the same Broad Specialty.
The final examination result for the said Post Graduate Diploma qualification should have been announced on or before the cut-off date.
The candidates must submit proof /documentary evidence confirming that the final examination result for their Post Graduate Diploma qualification was announced on or before the cut-off date.
Registration with the NMC/ the erstwhile Medical Council of India or State Medical Council is necessary, and the candidates should furnish their documentary proof on the day of examination and at the time of counseling/admission.
